2 Places To Find A Vacation Rental Home Close To New York City For Your Long Weekend

Flenn Austin

If you have a long weekend coming up and would like to escape the city for a few days, then you should consider a vacation rental close to the city. This way you don't have to spend a lot of time traveling to the airport and flying somewhere. Instead, you can drive or take a train and be at your rental house without much delay and begin to enjoy your weekend. Here are some places you can visit that are close to the city and where you can find a cool vacation rental

Warwick

Warwick is located in the Hudson Valley. It's a great place to visit if you are looking for a country atmosphere, but not one that is too rustic. Warwick has lots of beautiful old homes and a great small town vibe. The town was formed in 1788, and unlike many of the towns in upstate New York, it has resisted much of the modern development. There are not an abundance of strip malls and huge chain stores. Instead, there are small mom and pop stores and little cafes and restaurants. If you are visiting in the Fall, you can visit one of the apple orchards and pick your own apples. There is also a huge lake nearby (Greenwood Lake) where you can rent a rowboat, kayak, or canoe. There are also lots of cool hiking trails in the Warwick area that are great for those who love getting into the woods. You can get to Warwick by driving right up interstate 87 or by taking a train right out of Penn Station.

Southampton

If you prefer to spend time near the ocean and the beach, then you should look to Southampton. This is a town in the famous Hamptons section of Long Island. It's located on the southern coast of Long Island. You will be right on the Atlantic Ocean. The Hamptons is a very hip place, but it's also chill and not too crowded. So, if you like the beach, but don't want a super crowded beach like Jones Beach or the Jersey Shore, then Southampton is a choice spot. The town is upscale, but not super exclusive. You will find vacation rentals right on the beach, as well as homes that are situated in the town. But even if you choose a spot that's in the middle of town and not right on the water, it's not a big trip to get down to the beach. You will see lots of bicycles around Southampton because it's a small place and you really don't need a car. You can walk to the beaches and the cafés, or you can rent or bring your own bike. You can drive out to Southampton, or you might want to go to Penn Station and take the Long Island Rail Road.

About Me
Planning Your Honeymoon

When I got married, I failed miserably at planning my honeymoon. For some unknown reason, I thought a 3 day trip to a beach followed by a 3 day trip to the mountains was a good idea. During the middle of our honeymoon, my husband and I had to travel approximately 6 hours from our first destination to our second one. To make matters worse, our car broke down during this long commute. If you’re currently planning your honeymoon, consider booking an extended stay at one unforgettable resort retreat. In doing so, you will simplify your trip and have more time to spend with each other. On this blog, you will discover honeymoon planning tips.
